Renaissance Faire
A few things happened this weekend. First, Freya got to have her first sleepover with friends (ie, not with Grandma and Grandpa). This arrangement was so that mom and dad and big sister could have a mini trip this weekend (with a bunch of our other friends). First we went to Milwaukee to help friends Ian and Kristy move into their new house. Stew and Chris did the heavy lifting while Beth and I watched the kids in the backyard.
Then around 6:00, we left to drive to Gurnee to our hotel (which we barely managed to find!). The kids had a little swimming time before they passed out from exhaustion. Then the adults ordered a pizza and set up a new game I had bought for my birthday (thanks to Adam and Brandy for the giftcard!) Beth didn't make it through the game (understandably), but Stew, Chris, and I managed to get through most of "A Touch of Evil" (that's the title of the game).
Around 10:30 (before we even started the game), I was starting to feel a little sick to my stomach. By the time the game ended (around 1:00), I was definitely feeling not well. Add an uncomfortable bed and just all the weirdness from being away from home, and I was up until about 5:00, kind of throwing up, mostly just being really tired and tense and generally unhappy.
So morning dawned way to early and I was feeling like crap, but I toughed it out and we made it to the Ren Faire. I was pretty miserable for the first couple of hours, but it got a little better throughout the day. We left around 4:00, drove 2 hours back to Madison (which I slept through), and then I went right to bed. Overall, it was a good weekend experience.
I don't have a ton of pictures of the event (due to illness), put here are a couple cute ones of Shire.
