Charlotte's Web
Yesterday, Shire got to have a special date with Mom and Dad to go see CTM's production of "Charlotte's Web." I bought the tickets for the show a couple of months ago, and Shire and I read the book together (yes, she's gotten to the point where she can sit through a chapter book a night with mom!)
The play was in the lower level of the Overture Center, in a little theatre called The Playhouse (appropriately). This area outside was a nice place for kids to run around before having to go sit down in the theatre.
Speaking of seats, here we are: front row center. I couldn't believe that we were right next to the stage.
The view from our seats (yes, I snuck a picture after the play was over). The set was really beautiful, with the centerpiece being the large metal web that the actress playing Charlotte hung from and crawled around.
Speaking of, here's Charlotte. She did a wonderful job; I especially loved the music and otherworldly quality of her voice. It was exactly how I've always imagined Charlotte sounds.
Also, the play was really special because my friend Alex was playing Templeton! We know him both from Ring Game and because he's the drummer in the band that I started a couple of months ago. He was an amazing Templeton--he completely stole the show (as you can imagine).

Halloween 2012
Starring Shire as Thor and Freya as the Pajama Fairy. With special guest stars Teanna as Athena, Shanda as Teanna's mom. With Stewart as Dad.
Super hero pose.
In case you live under a rock, here's a picture of what we were going for.

Pumpkin Patch 2012
We went to the same farm as last year for pumpkin picking. It was a bit different this year with two girls walking.
Remember this?
The girls didn't really want to participate in any more photo ops, as you can see.
Haha.
We split a caramel apple sundae for a snack, but Shire was too busy pouting. So Freya and mom ate it.

Renaissance Faire
A few things happened this weekend. First, Freya got to have her first sleepover with friends (ie, not with Grandma and Grandpa). This arrangement was so that mom and dad and big sister could have a mini trip this weekend (with a bunch of our other friends). First we went to Milwaukee to help friends Ian and Kristy move into their new house. Stew and Chris did the heavy lifting while Beth and I watched the kids in the backyard.
Then around 6:00, we left to drive to Gurnee to our hotel (which we barely managed to find!). The kids had a little swimming time before they passed out from exhaustion. Then the adults ordered a pizza and set up a new game I had bought for my birthday (thanks to Adam and Brandy for the giftcard!) Beth didn't make it through the game (understandably), but Stew, Chris, and I managed to get through most of "A Touch of Evil" (that's the title of the game).
Around 10:30 (before we even started the game), I was starting to feel a little sick to my stomach. By the time the game ended (around 1:00), I was definitely feeling not well. Add an uncomfortable bed and just all the weirdness from being away from home, and I was up until about 5:00, kind of throwing up, mostly just being really tired and tense and generally unhappy.
So morning dawned way to early and I was feeling like crap, but I toughed it out and we made it to the Ren Faire. I was pretty miserable for the first couple of hours, but it got a little better throughout the day. We left around 4:00, drove 2 hours back to Madison (which I slept through), and then I went right to bed. Overall, it was a good weekend experience.
I don't have a ton of pictures of the event (due to illness), put here are a couple cute ones of Shire.

Busy Summer
So it's been busy. We had our 5 year wedding anniversary in June, and my 29th birthday was last week. Lots to celebrate and do, not so much time for photos. These pictures are going to go in reverse chronological order.
Scrambled eggs and cheese. A typical mid-morning (or anytime) snack.
From my birthday party last weekend. It was '80s theme. Also, I got my hair cut (for the first time in a year...woah).
Finger painting with Liam.
Shire showing off her shield from her "Knights and Dragons" themed birthday party (which was also Liam and Sophie's party). Gotta love what you can do with cardboard and duct tape.
Classic Freya manuever, the "Reach and Whine." Haha. And that's all for now since the children are staging a mutiny as a speak (type).
